I was wondering how you can give foot massages to people to relieve stress in their feet. I can make big $$$ on it if I can do it right.

  1. Massage gently, using small rubbing motions. Don't press to hard or too lightly, it varies so you might need to adjust a bit, the deeper their sigh of relief, the better you're doing.  Start at the heel of the foot which recieves the most impact to the ground, work your ways to the toes which require a really gentle touch, then back to the heel. Don't take too long with the massage, as a long massage can cause a persons foot to sweat and potentially embarass them. Your best bet even with these tips from me, are to get a proper massage education before charging any money for a foot massage.

  2. practice on your own foot.

    lol.

but i think its mostly on the ball of their feet.

  3. Yes, and girls love it by the way.  Focus on the parts of the foot that touch the ground-- that's where the tension is.  Squeeze the heel hard and change positions slightly over and over.  Put firm pressure all over the ball of the foot over and over.  Roll each toe gently between your fingers from the base to the end (firmer pressure on the end).  Pinch all up and down the edge of the foot where it touches the ground.  COMPLETELY AVOID THE ARCH, with women at least.  It's sensitive and doesn't gather any tension anyway.  Use a stroking pinch above the heel behind the ankle bone.

  4. i personally like the arch of my foot cuz it cramps up alot and then on the  top of my foot below my toes

  5. Learn foot reflexology.

  6. I like the idea of practicing on your own foot, it is definitely a good way to find out what feels good and what doesn't. DO NOT IGNORE THE ARCH. It's the only place that actually has a decent amount of muscle and tendons.

Ok technique is not easy to explain but here it goes. Note it is not essential to use oil or cream but makes the whole process a little easier and smoother.

Firstly I think the two most important spots are where the arch meets the heel and where the arch meets the ball of the foot. Use either your thumb to press and massage the heel meets arch or your thumb and index finger to squeeze that area. Just use your thumb where arch meets the ball of the foot by using pressure and circular motion.

It's hard to explain but the technique you want to use for your thumb is like a worm action ie you start with pressure at the middle of the thumb and roll it to the end part (nail) and push down. You use that technique mainly in the arch part.

On the ball of the foot concentrate more on pressure at the end of your thumb. Also on the ball of the foot concentrate on the part near the toes. Start near the toes and pull down.

Use a pinching action on the edge of the foot (pinky side).

Don't forget the heel which is sooo important. Use a combination of pinching (thumb & bent index), thumb pressure and knuckle action.

Also many people tend to neglect the top of the foot which is still importand in releiving stress and getting a good all round foot massage. This is best approached by using some kind of oil or cream and using smooth, sweeping action on the top of the foot. A good technique is to get both hands and sandwich the foot and slide your hand back to you.

Hope some of this helps and is not to hard to understand.
