  1. Well x-rays of the legs are easy. Usually they put a twitch on the horses lip. it is a device that will hold them still by yanking on their top lip so when they misbehave it hurts themselves. Then they place their leg on a wooden block and stick an x-ray board ( just like a human x-ray board...i don't know the proper term) on one side ( usually the vet assistant will hold it in place) then a machine about the size of a portable radio or smaller is used to take the picture.  if they are pretty sure that a bone is broken they may go ahead and tranquelize the horse. (Like putting a human asleep for surgery.)That way the horse won't see the x-ray being taken. For other parts of their body I am not familiar with. My horses have only had x-rays of the legs and hoofs done. HOPE THIS HELPS!!!
