Question:

How do you go about booking train tickets in China?

I am going to China for a little more than a month and I am thinking travelling by trains between cities as I can't afford flying. I was told that normally tickets can only be booked around two weeks in advance so will more or less have to wait till I get there. However, I will be in China during the Olympics (I am not going there for the Olympics at all- it just happens to be an unfortunate coincidence!) and I am assuming all means of transport will be busier than usual, what with the influx of tourists, etc. is there any way I could book train tickets in advance? Or will there be increased transport facilities over the O.G.? Any tips on how I should go about it? I am quite worried I won't manage to see as much as I had planned to and will be stuck in one place forever or.... won't be able to make it back on time my flight back!!
