How do you go about changing your last name?

i am divorced and want to change my last name to my maiden name.

Yeah, me too.. I was wonderin.  I think u have to go to the social security office first.. Not sure.  I sure as h**l hope that I don't have to pay more money to the d**n lawyer.

I f*cking hate this divorce, it is sucking me dry... The ex is having the time of his life, running up credit cards at strip clubs, and his parents are loaded and trying to bury me.... UGH!!!

it should of been in the divorce decree to restore your name did you read it?  call the lawyer

Sorry to hear your going through a divorce. I know that stuff is tough to get through. Go to your courthouse and take your birth certificate an other documents. They'll tell you what to you.

Go to the clerk of courts, and get a copy of your divorce decree, see your lawyer, and apply for a motion. It will cost about $125 plus lawyer fee.

I think you can go to a registary office to do it but i think there are also special places where you can fill in applications and stuff like that instead.
