  1. what information do you have? With my non id, i was able to find my mother and father online from free searching sites in california. I found (me) on the california birth index after narrowing it down from over a thousand girls born in the year of my birth.

then I traced them to 12 possiblities that shared my same birthday. I tracked all of those girls down but one, my birthname didn't have a life with her, she was untraceable so I knew that was me.

On the birth index, along with the childs name comes the mothers maiden name. My last name at birth was different from my mothers maiden name, so I was able to find my mother ( because my non id gave me her age at my birth ) on classmates.com and in the same class I found my dads sister ( who had the same last name as me at birth ) and she put me into contact with my dad.

I write this to let you know that there are many ways around paying the discriminating fee's adoptees face just because we're adopted.

The birth index for california has since been altered, and is now only searchable online via mothers maiden name. So if you don't have her maiden name, it doesn't work anymore. However, there ARE people out there who have the index in their possession they are free search angels.

Utilizing groups like the one above that the lovely Heather H posted are SOOOO HELPFUL. Getting in a face to face group with others in your area is not only a valuble resource for support, but you get a plethora of searching information.

get that non id, if you haven't already and start from there! Definately definately definately use the www.isrr.net link that heather posted, thats the worlds largest soundex reunion registry started by a daughter of an adoptee for adoptees and our families separated by adoption and divorce.

good luck! YOU CAN DO IT!!
