  1. Hi,

    There are many ways to market a small business on the web.  You can buy banner ads, text links, or use PPC.  However, the best way is to get listed in a bunch of portals. Portals and directories are like phone books, and they often provide a lot of traffic because they tend to rank high on Google.

  2. Ask the copyright holder.  If it's from a book, send an email to the author or author's representative and just ask.

  3. Depends on what you are trying to use, I have obtained a couple of permissions to use copyrighted material.  One was easy enough to do, I contacted the the copyright office and was put in contact with the person directly.

    I had a second one that took some time and effort, just depends on what it is, who owns it, and what you want to do with it..  Link below to FAQ for the copyright office.
