How do you go about getting started?

Question

I've been involved with local theatres, but I would like to know how I start auditioning on a national level, like films or Broadway, etc...I live in Philadelphia, PA and I wanted to know, what is the best way to find/obtain a good agent? Or, how can I find out what open calls are taking places in NY/PA...How does having an agent work? Any information on getting started in the acting business would be greatly appreciated!

well you have to take classes so sign up for classes and participate in the showcases because a lot of agents will go see them. an agent finds you work and gets a percentage of your earnings.
