How do you grow dalia's, lots of water, not a lot of water, direct sun, shade? First time ever seeing them.

Not sure how to grow them, I have them in pots. One looks O.K., the other not so good. Should I cut them all the back in the winter? I live in the Bay Area so it doesn't normally get really cold.

Thanks!

  1. If they are in pots right now - transplant them into your garden if you can.  Dig a hole about 7" deep  remove the bulb, plant the dahlia with its present soil( loosen it a little from the roots) into the hole spread the soil around it and water well.  They should be planted in a somewhat sunny spot.

    Good luck
