How do you grow mint from a clipping?

Please teach me how to take a clipping from a plant, in this case mint and grow another plant from it. I've tried with no success.

  1. You can take a root clipping and put it in moist soil or a glass of water. You can do this with stem clippings too, but keep their stem above the water. They should root very quickly. This is the easiest way to root the plants and it is very neat seeing the roots form. The one problem with putting them in the ground I found is that they may spread all over the garden, and these plants can and will take over the garden if given a chance.


  2. Easiest way is to lay a stem on the ground and partly bury it eventually the stem grows roots and you dig it up and pot.  If you can find a stem that has been lying on the ground and it has rooted just dig up and pot.  keep soil moist and if will grow easily - you can skip the growing in water part.
