  1. JUST TRY TO BE THE BEST. YOUR PROMOTIONS WILL FOLLOW.DON'T WORRY ABOUT ANYONE ELSE. YOU WILL BE NOTICED.

  2. Do you mean you hate your job at the moment but can't see a way to change?

I guess it depends on how you really feel about your current role.  If you are just a bit bored or frustrated, I think you can make things better for yourself if you decide to focus your attention on how you can make the job easier, pleasanter for those around you.  Go out of your way to be helpful, make a point of complimenting people on their work and thanking them if they have helped you.  Basically if you give more, you will get more back.

On the other hand, there may come a point when you decide to cut your losses and move on.  Yes, you can change your career.  I don't suggest that you just resign tomorrow, but if you take your time and plan it carefully, you can make a switch to work that you won't have to grow to love, because it will match your values, use your skills and allow you to grow and learn.

Remember what they say, the definition of madness is to keep on doing the same old thing and expect different results.  So if you don't like what you have got, do something different!

  3. I'm no expert, but I believe by having a challenging job where management recognizes and rewards you for your efforts. Ultimately, building relationships with your co-workers and customers that creates an atmosphere of a friendly, welcoming environment.

  4. I used to hate my job. I cried every morning on my way in for a soild 6 months. One on of these tearful mornings I called my mother for moral support; she asked me "Why dont you go back to your old job if you hate this one so much?" I could't think of an answer. I was more bothered by the fact that I couldn't even come up with a reason as to why I was staying at a job I clearly hated.

I took two days off and locked myself in my apartment to do some soul searching. On the first day I sat on my couch and wrote out pros and cons about my job. I ended up writing 26 pages worth of Cons. (I stand on my feet for long hours- the ppl there think i am just a dumb blonde- I am the only female in my department- I get treated like a joke- etc...) I could only come up with one Pro. (I make enough money to support my family and protect my financial future) On the second day my boyfriend at the time asked me " what are you trying to prove?" Thats when it hit me, like a train! I was trying to prove to myself and everyone else that I could thrive in a male dominated industry.

Knowing what I was out to prove put a name, or a target, to my mission. Now I knew what I had to accomplish. I told myself that if in 90 days I didnt feel like I had earned to respect I deserve from my male coworkers than I would leave.

I pulled up to work, blasting my "girl power" playlist, with my very best "I'll show them" attitude. People noticed that I worked longer hours, and harder shifts. I did two or three times the work of my male coworkers in half the time. About a month ago my supervisor told me he was nominating me for a promotion. Knowing that I wasnt done with my 90 day quest I almost declined, but then I figured the interview would be good experience for the future.

When I arrived at the interview I was so nervous. I sat at the end of a long table and waited as execitive after executive filed in. As the last person came in I heard the sound of high heels clicking against the tile. I turned and smiled to the VP of operations, and possibly my new boss. Who consiquently was the only female executive. I aced my interview and now I Love my new position.

Once I got past the point of trying to prove to myself and everyone else that I could even do this job I learned to take satisfaction in showing my collegues that anyone man woman or both can do anything they really set their minds too.

  5. Besides doing something you love - maybe find the things you do like about it instead of your dislikes and focus on those things.  Or find what makes you happy in your current role and find another position that allows you to do that specific thing more often!

    Good Luck!
