I got my prince albert done about 5 months ago. They pierced it with a 6 gauge. I was wanting to go to a 4 but didnt know how long or how to do it? I tried once but it seemed very tite. It woulda taken some force to push through. I even tried some lube.

  1. First if all, they pierced it with too large a guage.  At most, it should have been done with a 10ga.  I've had my PA for 6 years, and I am at a 2ga.  The rule of thumb is:

Initial piercing = (10 ga) 6 months before you increase to next guage.

1st Increase = (8 ga) 1 year before you increase to next guage, and then 1 year increments between successive increases.

Since you started with a 6ga, you need to wait at least a year before trying to upguage.  The reason is, your body hasn't had time to add the dermal layers to the bridge (the area between your lower piercing and your urethra) to strengthen the bridge.  If you start increasing too soon, you are going to end up tearing the bridge (the skin needs time to expand and stretch between increases.)  Once you rip out the bridge, only surgery can repair it.

  2. A roofing nail and hammer should do it! Good luck---
