How do you gzip a website?

Multiple pages tell me that gziping a website or web page will reduce the download time, but I am unsure of how to do this, can someone please explain exactly how to gzip the files?

I'm not certain what g-zipping is, but zipping is making a compressed file archive that can be one or more files. Programs like WinZip or WinRar will help you make these kinds of files.
