Lately, I have been having anxiety attacks a lot. I know the cause. My mind is on overload. I am thinking about stuff that needs to get done, appointments that need to made and kept and all kinds of stuff. For the past month I just can't seem to clear my mind and I find myself unable to catch my breath, heart racing, light headed and sick to my stomach. I can't be a bundle of nerves anymore.

What can I do?

  1. First of all relax. . . remember to take one day at a time. . . all this stress is not good for you try to breath deeply and relax while you are having the attack but when you get a chance got for a massage to relax your nerves and ease everything pamper yourself to a facial and pedicure also. .. you will come out of there brand new.

  2. first, you need to see your dr. to rule out any physical causes for the panic attacks. then, once everything's ruled out, you need to be on some sort of anti-depressant. I'm on Lexapro for panic disorder and it has worked great for me. I'm also taking xanax, which gets a horrible wrap, but if you know how to control substances, you'll be fine. it makes life so much easier. i am currently weening off the xanax and am doing great. i'll be on the lexapro for 6 more months atleast. i also attend counseling and excercise as well as eat better. learn to breathe slowly and deeply in your nose and out your mouth to increase the carbon dioxide in your body. yes, yoga and all the other answerer's solutions work, but at some point you need to use the help that scientists have provided us with. good luck and i hope you get better.

  3. you need some way to release the stress.

weather it be taking a vacation, screaming into a pillow, listening to relaxing music, writing in a diary anything that relieves your stress.  When stress builds up people react in different ways yours is panic attacks.  Clear your mind go to the beach or take a short vacation.  You deserve a break ;]

  4. take a day away from everything. one day you need to get everything set for the next day and when the next day comes, just chill! sleep in or go out with some friends or just find some way to relax. maybe at a Spa or something. im the same way and i've gone outside before and layed on the back of my truck and looked at the stars and sky.

  5. If you are one of the three million Americans who have had multiple panic attacks, you should know that there are ways to control panic attack symptoms.  In order to control panic attack symptoms, you need to help prevent them in the first place.  Another option that some sufferers choose to help control panic attack symptoms is to actually face the fears.  Knowing that there are treatments out there though should help you can beat those fears and control panic attack symptoms.  In order to control panic attacks you will need to become aware of the way you breathe enough so you can begin to switch from chest breathing to diaphragmatic breathing.  The best way to control panic attack is to stop excessive worrying.

Cognitive therapy exercises such as breathing techniques and visualization methods are used by psychologists to try and break the cycle of anxious thoughts.  Deep breathing is a very important and crucial part of lowering your stress level and reducing chances of panic attacks.

A good panic and anxiety video can be found here, hope this will help.

  6. What normally helps me (I suffer from them, too), is writing down everything that you need to do and even the thoughts you maybe feeling. With the list of things to do, do one thing at a time. Only look at that one thing that you can get done right away or that needs to be done immediately before moving to the next one. Once you take one thing at a time, this should help ease the tention. I know this maybe hard, but this helps me. Also, taking a deep breath and finding some relaxing time for yourself as well, helps. If you can take about a 15-30 minute break to just relax, do it. Get yourself something warm or hot to drink (if it won't over heat you). Also, finding a quiet place to calm your mind, helps. Just remember, take it one day at a time. Take care!

  7. what i do is.

lay down in bed close my eyes.

    and try to breath normally.

and if its really bad i turn on the radio to something slow and light so it calms you down.

  8. coping skills. i would try to explain and help but im getting ready to leave for work so i will try tomarrow. hang in there and breathe and one thing that helps me and seriously is to stay cool . even if your inside of an ac cooled house try to stay as cool or cold as you an. ice packs on your head or bags of ice
