How do you handle being in a confined space, such as on an airplane for hours?

I was curious as to how people deal with being on an airplane, knowing that they are in a place where they cannot move around much or leave, for a long period of time, and still enjoy the flight.

  1. There is no cure for claustrophobia, however, there are several forms of treatment that can help an individual control their condition. Treatment for claustrophobia can include behavior therapy, exposure therapy, drugs or a combination of several treatments. Through visualization and positive thinking, the individual can learn to disassociate feelings of danger with the confined space.

hope this answers your question :)

  2. Try not to think about it.  Get yourself involved in a good book or a video game, or just kick back and take a nap.

  3. I don't handle it, it sucks. I've been flying all my life.

I'm 6'3" and it tears my knees up having the seat in front of me rubbing on them all the time. The seat backs aren't high enough so I can lean my head against them to sleep, if I could sleep on an airplane to begin with.

I survive having my iPod and getting up to stand as much as I can. The transatlantic flights really sucked from Germany.

  4. Well, I am usually flying the airplane. so, it's very enjoyable for me.  A little work, sometimes, but most of my work is done before the flight in planning.  Flying's the easy part.

  5. Well it depends on what kinda plane u are talking about. If its a jet, u wont feel that there's too much time cos every single second is adrenaline. Except when you are going back to base.

If its the airliners, they have games and movies and stuff nowadays. It really helps but for me, i hated that SMELL all aircrafts had. Somehow it irritates me. Oh, or you can just stay up the night before, go out with your friends or do something crazy. Just check in the plane and sleep your way through the flight!

Maybe u can drink a couple of beers and you are on your way as well. HAHA

    Happy future flights!!

  6. just read a magazine or be on your laptop so you are not focussed on the place you are.

  7. I'm cool with it - when I flew to Hawaii from Key West, I just took some Xanax (my flying companion) and chilled.  AND I'm a smoker and couldn't smoke for entire trip from Miami to Honolulu!  But, I still enjoyed my flight!  However, since I wouldn't dream of trying to get out a plane in mid-air - I don't handle being in closed in spaces on the ground very well!

  8. Take a benadryl and go to sleep.  or read,  use a laptop, listen to the airline music which isnt that bad sometimes.  Nice relaxing jazz is good for long flights.  Also, think about the vacation ahead!!!

If you are very chrostrophobic and will panic or freak out on an airplane, take a car.  Most airliners are kind of spacious

  9. I used to fly, so its really great to just sit there and enjoy the sensations of flight again... almost like going home after being gone for a long time. I like it best when there is turbulence... the acceleration on takeoff is exhilarating... I find it hilarious when the left seat bounces it on landing. Hope they aren't logg'in a bounce as a landing lol. Worst part of the trip is putting up with snotty stew's... unless your on Southwest Airlines in which case they treat you like your a human being which is also great. I guess the moral of the story is fly Southwest... and just relax and enjoy !

  10. I take a sleeping pill b4 I board ,then sleep on the flight there.

  11. ...Valium !

  12. Read a book, sleep, do crossword puzzles, listen to music, watch a movie, watch the other passengers, have a snack. There are lots of ways to keep occupied if you prepare for it.
