How do you handle the monotony of an 18 hr drive w/o going insane??

we've got a wedding to attend in august,and my wife will *not* fly. we're coming from alabama, going to michigan,and it's an 18 hr drive. she doesn't wanna take a train,either. we're going to rent a car. we've made the trip 2 times b4,and i've been bored outta my mind both trips. how do i make this trip not so mind numbing?

  1. Stop and relax at some place you aren't familiar with for a soda or something for an hour or so.


  2. Listening to the radio or music

  3. Rent a motor home rather than a car!

    Let her drive!

    Beer breaks at every rest area!

    Sleep between rest areas.

    A quickie at every other rest area!

    Portable DVD and porno!

  4. Audiobooks, for the win!  I crossed the country on Jim Dale's reading of the first four Harry Potter books.

  5. Mmmm.  Trips can be boring.  But,  you could try a number of things:   Singing songs together,  stopping along the way at tourist sites,   Take pictures along the way (whether of you and your wife,  or the scenery).  Maybe this will help

  6. Read or sleep(if you're not driving, of course!), listen to music, talk, stop often for breaks to stretch. Bring alcohol.
