  1. There are three ways to pay tips.  You can prepay, but I would not recommend that.  You can have the tips charged to your room and/or your credit card, or you can pay in cash.

I like to have the tips charged to my room (which is thus charged to my credit card) and then put in a little extra cash in the envelope for those that deserve more than the standard tip.  The envelopes are handed out on the last day.

Most of the cruise lines ask for $10 per person per day.  Usually your room steward gets $3.50 per day per person, your waiter gets $3.50 per day per person, your assistant waiter gets $2.50 per day per person and 50¢ per day per person goes to the waiters and waitresses in the buffet.

If you order a drink you will find that 15% has been added to your bill as a tip.  You can, if you want, increase this amount.  Drinks are billed to your on-board account.

  2. Either your pre setted tips are taken out of your onboard expence account or its prepaid. Relax and dont think about it other than save enough of money for it. Also remember that there is a 15% bar service charge aded to every bar fine. But its also handled through the account. A basic rule is to give what is suggested if you havent been missthreated in some way. Its part of theyre salary.

Apart from that its a good rule to bring some tip when you ask some one to do something special for you like having a cabin stewardes change your towels or whatewer. But dont overdo it. Johan

  3. On many cruise lines, the tips are added to your shipboard account, at the rate of about $10/person/day.  This can be adjusted, if you wish.  This does not include drinks/sodas from the bar [15% is added to the bill] or room service [usually a dollar or two for each delivery], or spa services.

  4. usually it is handle when you book your trip if you want  four workers are tipped the person who does you cabin his helper, the main waiter and the asst waiter,  if you want u can tip the m.d. at the end of the cruise.  the bartenders and people who serve the drinks the tip is added with the drink every time you get one.  also it is aboout 3.50 per day per person in your cabin,  for the main waiter and cabin steward and 2.50 per person per day for the helpers.

  5. well when i went on princess cruise lines, they automatically added 10$ a day to each person, that way, we didnt have to cary around cash evrywhere.
