My friend made us a quilt for our baby which we cant use yet but I wanted to hang it on the wall. I dont want to puncture the edges with nails or tacs and was hoping there was a way to do this without damaging the quilt

  1. At Michael's we carry these little wooden blocks that hold the quilt without damaging it, altering it, or leaving sticky residue on it. They are in the sewing aisle with the other quilting supplies.

  2. double sided tape.

At Office Max and stores like it, they have a wide selection of 'sticky stuffs' that won't damage anything.

  3. you could buy adhesive hooks that stick on the wall. their made so that when your ready to remove the hook its not supposed to damage the wall.

also I have seen people pur tacs in the crow molding and suspend strings to hold it where you want it. (they were hanging pictures).

its kind of a cool idea and it doesn't harm your walls at all.

  4. Velcro

  5. What I did was to go to a craft store and buy small plastic rings and carefully stitch them to the back of the quilt, then I hung the rings from small picture hooks. It makes it easier to take down for washing when it gets dusty, or gets dingy from people who smoke in the house.

  6. Sew loops on the back using thread and slip a dowel rod (from Home Depot or Lowe's) into the loops. Hang the rod from 2 hooks in the wall.

  7. A quilt should have a hanging sleeve sewn on the back. A wooden dowel slips through the sleeve. The sleeve prevents strain on the fibers of the quilt.  Then place 2  quick release hooks, removable without damaging wall. Place dowel ends on hooks.  Never put tape, velcro or pins through quilt. Do not hang in direct sunlight

  8. The best way to display a quilt is to buy or make a quilt rack.  It's a wooden frame that you fold and then drape the quilt over.  It won't be "on" the wall, but you can put the rack up against the wall.  Racks are not as hard on the stitching and fabric of quilts, especially heavy ones as any kind of hanging is.
