  1. Listen to Paul he knows what he is talking about, as our yacht is hooked up with batteries the way he describes it. Plus it helps to have diesel engines.

  2. First responses are correct.  But the batteries won't share the load unless they are equally charged and in equivalent condition at the outset.  For this reason, batteries are not often paralleled; one uses a transfer switch to choose a particular battery to use.

  3. pos to pos  neg to neg

  4. Why would you do that.If one goes dead it will pull the other down with it.

What you want to do is hook up two to a three way battery switch.

So you start on one and the other # 2  use as accessorry. If it gets too low to start you just switch back to number one and start engine then put switch in all postion and both will charge up to spec

  5. generally this not done as over time 1 battery will slowly discharge to the other. in effect they spiral down in charge capacity in a short time.  but if u must negative to negative (negative earth) and the positives are joined by 2 low current balancing resistors. normally for caravanning with a backup battery there is an isolating solenoid that only activates when the alternator is charging.

  6. Positive to Positive and Negative to Negative

  7. Pos to Pos Ground to ground on battery's &  ground both battery's>If your using a battery switch it's different>
