  1. As no two items of epuipment of different brands have the identical input and output connections and facilities, my advice is to follow one general simple rule.  "Connect like out to like in and Vice Versa".

You will learn much more by experimenting with your connection hookups personally and the bonus is that if someone else pulls a plug or lead by accident or intent, YOU are in a better postion to know how to rectify the situation rather than having to wait unti l you can get a Techo to come out and sort things out for you..

I also advise that once you do get your connections sorted out and working fine, tag each lead and write where it connects to. If you want to take it a stage further, you could spend a little time to draw a wiring (cable)connection diagram between your various items of equipment and scan it and save it to a Folder aptly named "Home Entertainment Setup Connection Diagram" . You could add a text page of any other infomation you deem important enough to remind you NOT to forget particular things about the installation.

That way you are really in charge!

  2. connect your sky plus box to the tv and dvd recorder and you vhs directly to your tv via a scart socket then use the dvd recorder to record from sky to dvd and choose the correct input on your video to record either tv channels or sky
