the receiver is about eight years old and does not have dvr capability. I just want to slave a second tv to an exercise room around the corner about 15 feet away.

  1. If you`ve got sky tv then you can get a sencond box or a splitter it bascily plugs into the back of the box so you can change the channel with a remote in another room. But the down side is you have to watch the same show so i`d recomend getting another sky box it`s only £10 more

  2. For coax output (single cable to both TVs) use a splitter on the output of the satellite receiver to split the signal into two outputs.  You will need a short  3 foot cable to run between the splitter and the box. Connect your TV to one of the outputs with the old cable which connected it to the box. Add a new 15 foot cable to run between the other splitter output and the new TV you are adding.

For audio video cable connection to one TV connect inputs on that TV by way of yellow, white and red cables to the matching outputs on the satellite box.  Connect the other Tv via the coax.  Set the TV with the three wire cable to its AV input instead of the usual channel (channel 3 in the US).

For video and audio cables to both TV sets use a AV distribution amplfier between the satellite box and the TV AV inputs.  Connect the output of the box to the input of the AV distribution amplifier and the outputs of the amplifier to the TV AV inputs using yellow, white and red cables.
