How do you hook up a tie mic to a camcorder?

okay, so i bought a hidden tie mic that you can see on reality tv shows, but i went to pug it in to my a/c outlet on my camcorder and it doesnt work. the a/c otlet is for headfones and not mics, i guess. so, how do i get it to work? what outlet does it go in?

This depends on your camera. Some cameras have a little place on top where optional mic accesories go, others have regular sort of 3.5 mm mic jacks which I think is what you want. The A/V jack is output only and it goes to the red/white/yellow RCA plugs. You need to look around on your camera for a similar looking jack that says MIC or AUDIO IN or something to that effect.
