For christmas I got a yamaha surround sound system. I have to wire all the speakers and connect them but I'm a little lost on how to do it. I wired all the speakers together but I don't understand how to get the speakers connecte to the subwoofer. keep in mind I had to strip the wires so I know I don't connect them to the T.V so they must connect to the subwoofer but there is no wire to wire the one end to the speaker. here the one I got it might help

  1. the other two posters are on the money. speaker system, not a surround system. surround system requires a source to power then, ie reciever. go to wallmart and look through there selections if you are price consience. if you have a little extra dough to spend try circuit city. also etronics.com has a very large assortment of recievers to fit any budget.

  2. The other poster answered correctly.

You got a speaker system, not a "surround sound" system.

You need a receiver which has all the connections on the back for the speakers and connections for all the sources (xbox, CATV, sat, etc.)

  3. You will need to get a 5.1 AVR reciever.

Your speakers won't do much without it.

edit: You can get this reciever for about $200.00
