How do you hook up surround sound to a tv with dvd recorder?

THAT IS A REAL TOUGH ONE. I can only offer a theory. Does that TV/ DVD recorder combo have a digital audio out? IF so...AND you have a surround sound receiver with a digital audio in......try it that way and see what happens. You'll have to read the instructions on setting up both, because all brands have DIFFERENT ways of doing things.
