How do you host a podcast?

So I sorta get what a podcast is, though detail would be helpful. And I would like to know how one goes about making their own podcast.

It's just a show with episodes. Are you planning a video podcast or an audio podcast?

The best way to decide how to host, is to listen to lots of podcasts and see what kind of style would best suit your personality and the topic of your show.

You need a way to record your show. For an audio podcast, many people plug a mic into their computer and talk into an editing program. The programs take a while to learn. There's a free one at http://audacity.sourceforge.net

For a video podcast, you need a digital camera obviously and whatever editing functions come with it - or a dedicated Apple  computer with Final Cut software. AGain, give yourself months to learn how to use it.

After you get the podcast the way you want it, save as an MP3 file for audio or MP4 for video, then go looking for a place to upload it. If you understand RSS, you can upload to your own website. Lots of people use sites that are there just for podcast hosting because the coding is done for you. They also set you up woth a palce for show notes and listener or viewer comments.

A google search will show many free podcast hosts. they are great for practice, but if you get any subscribers at all or if you want to store past episodes, you need to pay $5.00 - $10.00 a month for bandwidth.

First, decide on what kind of podcast do you want to do (i.e comedy, informative, politics, e.t.c..) next, decide what technology and co-workers you will need to get the job done (get some friends who know a snitch about computers) then, post your finished product on iTunes, advertise, then gain fame.
