  1. Impossible on any vehicle produced since the sixties.

  2. in an emergency I guess you wouldn't care about breaking a window to get in and pop the hood, and I'm sure you won't have a roll of wire, So in an emergency get in, get a hammer and flat tip screwdriver and vice grips, punch the screwdriver in as far as it will go and turn forward with the vice grips until the outside of the lock busts out, pry that part out and you are left with a big hole, at the bottom of this hole is a slotted piece, put screwdriver in slot and turn it over and go, 60 seconds and your gone.

  3. That depends.

If you have a car with VATS or PATS (Vehicle Anti Theft System or Passive Anti Theft System), you aren't starting the car without the chipped key being in the ignition.

  4. get the book on hotwiring a car for dummies

  5. The movies have certainly made "hot wiring" a car as simple as shoplifting.

Unfortunately the days of reaching under a dash and touching 2 wires to start a car are long gone. About 40 years long gone to be exact. If it were that simple, we wouldn't need tow trucks to do repo work.

On any modern car, several events have to occur to make a car start. The ignition system needs power, the fuel system needs power and of course the electronic control system needs some power. Once these things have their power to operate, then the starter needs to be engaged. Unless you know the exact wiring of the particular car, you could not accomplish this within a matter of a few minutes. If a thief has to spend any more than 60 seconds at a scene, then the risk is too great. This does not even count the time to get the steering wheel unlocked.

So how do thieves do it? Most simply use a slide hammer to pop out the ignition lock cylinder and use a s***w driver to start the car. However, those days are drawing to a close. Newer cars equipped with a programmable key require a signal between the key and the engine controller to start the car. This can be overcome too, but I am not going to write how to do it here.

  6. i think you should try asking the local thiefs in jail

  7. it is simple on the older cars, a single wire from the coil positive to the battery positive and jump the starter. i did this once to a friends car because she said that i could not. i had the car running in a short time, and without opening the door. now the newer cars with computer controls, it gets a little more complex. but i do not have the information in front of me to tell you how to do it. a  year make model would help though.

  8. Lear how cars work, petrol and diesel. Gain a detailed knowledge of combustion cycles and timing / firing methods. Then you will find it quite easy on older cars. virtually impossible with cars using an ECU and imobiliser system without extra equipment.

  9. Run a wire from the battery to the coil. That will make the spark plugs fire. Next you have to spin the engine. To do that short across the solenoid with a s***w driver and it will start. On newer cars you won't be able to steer it as the steering wheel will still be locked.
