Question:

How do you identify the browser version my computer is using?

When I send questions to Yahoo Technical Help, there is a form at the bottom that asks questions about your computer system. I guess this helps the technical staff to better understand your problem. One of those questions asks for your Browser Version. I don't know it since the Operating System (Windows Vista) came with the computer already installed. When I wrote to Yahoo for technical help, they said go to the Help button (I presume the Help button in Yahoo Mail) and click it until you see the box 'About Your Browser Name Here'.

I see no such labeled box. When I sent my response back to Yahoo Help, they said they would refer the problem to the Engineering department. So far it has been almost a week and I have not heard from them.

So I now ask the people for some help. Can anyone easily tell me how to find out my browser version?

Thank you for any help given. I may have more questions later that Yahoo Help has so far not been able to answer.

PS What does it mean that Asking costs me 5 points?

  1. open your browser go to help and then go to about IE and it will tell you what version your browers is.

  2. i believe you are using IE 7 as Vista is shipped with that

    so

    version is Internet Explorer 7.0

Alternatively open IE 7 ,    Check the file menu and look for help option, and then click on about internet explorer ,  you would get the version.

Now i know its difficult to find the File menu on Internet explorer 7.0 but it must be located above the address bar or just below it. If you are not able to find it ....here's an alternative,,,

open IE 7.0 ,  Press this sequence of keys

    ALT+H+A

ie press ALT key then alphabet "H" then alphabet "A"

    you will get the version.

NOTE: GO TO HELP ON YOUR INTERNET EXPLORER THE AREA IN STONE GREY AND NOT INSIDE THE PAGE , AREA IN WHITE .LIKE YOU SAID YOU CLICKED ON YAHOOMAIL'S HELP. SO DONT CLICK ON YAHOOMAILS HELP, LOOK AT IE OPTIONS.

here check screenshot for help bar

Yahoo Answers is based on Point system. When you register to yahoo answers,  initially you get some points.

Points and levels help you keep tabs on how active you (and others) are on Yahoo! Answers. You get points for different types of actions, like answering a question. The more points you get, the higher your level.

    Lifecycle of a question

As you get to know Yahoo! Answers, you'll notice three different types of questions: Open, In Voting and Resolved

So if you ask a question you get minus 5 points, out of which some are returned on choosing best answer that results in question being resolved.  For answering a question you get 2 points and for best answer you get 10 points ...read point system and community guide lines.
