How do you impersonate voices or change yours?

Is it possible to change your voice to sound like someone elses (Permanently or Temporarilly) without surgery? Do you have to be naturally born with the right voice or can you sound almost exactly how you want with practice?

  1. Try to breath differently while talking, it makes your voice sound different, now try this in different ways!

    Good Luck!

  2. through exposure and experimentation with prototypes i can adjust my voice to sound like others, or completely different. it does take practise though

  3. I don't know!

  4. practice, i can perfectly mimic some voices just by listenin to it

  5. ya just practice. I can sound like the singer for Motorhead, or Yoda, or cookie monster. LOL! Ya just need to practice, but if youre tryin to be a singer of your own accord, its best to be yourself. Otherwise yourll end up bein a tribute singer.

  6. Good question. What I try to do when I emulate a voice is to try and put myself in the mind frame of that person. The more you are able to think like that person and understand WHY they talk like that, the better you'll be able to figure out HOW to talk like that. On a more technical basis, it's a matter of raising or lowering the pitch of your voice (think singing) and breath control. Something as simple as not breathing out of your nose when you talk can give you a completely different sound.
