I want to improve my kicking with the non preferred foot in terms of distance and accuracy, I can barely kick on the run and can kick a maximum of 30 metres with my non preferred foot. I know i can kick a footy longer than that because with my preferred foot i can kick up to 45 metres. are there any tips to increase distance, accuracy and being able to kick on the run with my non preferred foot?

  1. Practice!

  2. you just have to practice, really.

  3. Well the more powerful your legs the further you can kick. So.. you need to strengthen your opposite leg. Try doing leg raising exercises, even the simple one of holding onto a gate/wall and practice raising it back and forth. By following through more, your also going to be able to kick it longer. So you can do these exercises, adding weight to this leg doing raises if you want. I wouldthink as a footballer you have some weights.

Obviously practicing is going to help! Practice dropping the ball over your leg and kicking the ball into a wall. As you improve, follow through more. And then you need to master the running..

Do the same, begin running slowly and with the right grip which you've practiced earlier, and kick it! Run faster and with practice hopefully you will be able to master it. Its tough!

By the way 45m is a fair effort, nice job. But yeh overall my main advice is to strengthen the leg up, get it more flexible by doing some leg raising exercises so you can follow through more. And practice!!!! It makes perfect as they say..

  4. no s.h.i.t practise...
