  1. I don't care. I pick up trash on the ground and recycle when I can. Everything besides that is of no matter to me.

  2. hermit, each of us that chooses to live an environmentally safe or sound lifestyle does not have to go the the poor house. We simply do what we can in the unending quest for a self sufficient, Eco-safe lifestyle. Not too many of us could run out right now, and buy a hybrid vehicle, solar panels for our house and a wind turbine to generate electricity, or water purifiers to extract impurities from our water. But most of us can do something. Such as recycle, not throw out pollutants into our landfills. As far as a hybrid car, real soon we're going to see used ones in car lots, so there's one way to buy one. Plant a garden and grow your own veggies. Avoid using those ozone decaying airosols etc. There is something every man, woman, and child can do for our planets safety. Live long and prosper. \\ // hawk

  3. You will soon find that most of the most fanatical of these types really don't care if you can afford it or not. They simply demand that you revert back to cave days and like it.

  4. It's sad that so many people think that living environmentally safe life style has to be expensive. In my opinion, the biggest way to help the environment is to make sacrifices, not environmental substitutions.

Your hybrid car for example. Instead of replacing a gas car with a hybrid, just walk! How often do you drive to something less than a mile away from where you live. Why? I carry all my groceries .25 miles to my house. Thats pretty normal in Europe, and that type of attitude is probobly why they don't have an obesity problem. If that total changes you way of life, maybe that's not realistic. Or at the very least get a supper cheap (older) more gas efficient car. A Geo metro for the early 90's will get you 40mpg.

But that's the best way to think. What could you do without?

Buy organic produce is pretty expensive... try to grow your own! It can be as organic as you want it to be. If you don't have land yourself, You would be surprised just how many neighbors would let you use a small plot of their land. You can grow tomatoes and other veggies in containers on your deck, hanging on a pole in your driveway, or even indoors.

    Other ideas:

    turn down the heat

    car pool

    take the bus

    turn off lights and appliances

    rent small houses and apartments

redeem your soda/beer cans (pick up soda and beer cans)

all of these things actually SAVE you money.

    Good luck!
