I am a beverage manager who needs to increase revenue in a casino in Laughlin. We give out free drinks to players and the only way we we make money on beverages, is in our restaurants and bar lounges. What can I do to increase this revenue.

  1. provide free salty peanuts preatzels or spicy nachos make people thirsty Most casinos operate beverage at a loss cause it makes people drink more thus gamble more and get buzzed and play poorly

u could water down drinks too

  2. Stop giving out free drinks, then people'll have to buy them.

  3. you could decrease the amount of alcohol you put in the free drinks, not sure if you'd MAKE money off of this but it would decrease your losses.

  4. High end bottle service has worked in the past, its all in presentation. A vip booth, nice waitress or 2 for service. Contact you glassware provider to order establishment glasses that are complimentary upon purchase. Serve specialty drinks in them. Your hands are tied in the casino venue due to the comps, Some times the front of the house staff get lax regarding upsale preorder. Prompt the staff to suggest High end cocktails, Im sure this is all old hat to you but like I said before, your hands  are tied. good luck.

  5. Why are you posting on here instead of talking to other people in your industry? Just because they're you're competitors doesn't mean they won't swap ideas with you. Good businesspeople network with other's in their industry.

Anyway, of course you'd make more money if you started charging. Some of the smaller casinos here in Vegas will charge a dollar or so for beers, and more for expensive drinks (although still cheap compared to at the bars). Some places also will only give out on tap beer in small (probably 8 or 10 oz) glasses and watered down mixed drinks. As a player it sucks, but I'm sure they save quite a bit of money. Plus the waitresses make better tips since players must order more drinks.
