  1. I only have one answer for that:

    Hit the ball harder!

  2. all in the shoulders..i assume you're wanting to serve like roddick...well it's all in the shoulders, baby...do a lot of shoulder-loosening exercise, that's the best way to increase speed...

of course, speed w.o. accuracy is useless, so u might want to first practice for consistency...then when u feel u can get it in over 95% of the time (second serve practice), start putting some pace to it.

but it's really all about having loose shoulders...oh, and firm steady legs help too.

  3. practice makes perfect,

    try out different grips,

    western.semi-western,

    just try them all out,

  4. Be really careful not to just pummel the ball.  If your shoulder is sore, you're doing it wrong.  Remember to keep your head up until you're finished your serve.  Get the racket head up early, lots of bend in the knees and transfer the weight from the back of your body forwards, so it's the weight of your whole body going into the ball and not just the strength in your arm.

Throw a football.  Your serve should look the same: elbow out in front and a full extension of your arm.

Practice tons, but be very careful to stretch.  I injured my rotator cuff and can barely serve at all anymore, because I didn't know about the above.

  6. Watch videos of how the pros serve you have to have a lot of knee bend and throw your whole body into your serve. Make sure your toss is high and out in front of you not behind you. Try to jump off the ground throwing your body into the serve. im telling you watch andy roddick, roger federer, novak djokovich is an especially good one to watch, watch slow motion videos of them serving. try to also excellerate your racquet head speed through the ball. and practice practice practice. hit 100-200 serves a day.
