How do you initial a name that has a hyphenated first name, a middle name, and last name?

Or how about one with a hyphenated last name?

Is it possible to include hyphens in initials?

  1. Yes sure. Jean-Paul Maurat is J-P Maurat, that sort of thing.

  2. Normally you use all the initials without hyphens although it is uncommon enough that I suppose you could.

I think you will find that many people who hyphenate their last names are so huffy about it that they don't want to use initials at all.

put the 3 words out as an eSearch 'hyphenated names initial' and you will get lots of return.

  3. You can initial any way you want as long as it's consistent!

You only write your full signature one way, your  initial should be the same.

Personally, I just initial with my first initial because I have a very unique way of writing it and when people I know see it, they know its me.

If my first name was hyphenated, I would put both letters together.
