How do you install a fuel pump push rod on a 1981 chevy corvette?

  1. Unless they changed the whole design, there isn't a pushrod. The fuel pump has a lever that rides on a cam lobe. At least, that's they way they used to do it.

I'm guessing its the one inside the motor ive never had to replace one.... but it dont come out the hole in the side then you have to remove the top of motor take heads cam is what it works off of ... so you have to remove all that and push it up and pull it out thru the top... ive never seen one wear out.... and most of the time i just added a electric pump and just left that push rod inside

  3. it's been a long time but i think there is a plate where the pump bolts to. i believe there are 2 more bolts holding that plate on. take them out and the plate should come off. you should be able to pull it down from there. like i said it's been a long time.
