  1. Had mine done last year- Paultech is dead on with his answer.

  2. Go to your local marine parts house and tell them the make and model and most important the serial number and see if a steering kit is available for whatever application you have .

The steering helm and cable comes as a kit and you have to buy wheel separately..

You will have to have an area of dash measuring  8inches by 8 inches because you will be drilling quite a large hole and around it four smaller holes for bolting helm to dash.

A good marine supplier should be able to give you the correct helm and cable lenght for your boat.

Depending on how narrow the width of your boat when making the bend to feed cable thru steering tube sometimes you may have to unbolt and lift off outboard to get cable started in tube

,Just remember to keep cable at wide sweeping turn .If you put it at 9o degree bend or smaller you will have to much resistance and it will be real tough turn steer.

Let me know if you need more info

  3. go to the popular mechanis website.

  4. You need telfelx or a series of pulleys and cables (not so good).  Assuming you are in UK try: http://marinestore.co.uk/Merchant2/merch...

I'm sure there is similair in US

  5. If a outboard must have the capability to install the cables> Then a helm & console needed controls box> steering cable> cost of around a $1000+parts >Depending on what you need then a way to get it to the back of the boat if no access threw the hull then the fun begins$$$>
