How do you install a wood flooring on staris?

  1. For solid wood flooring, you can often get matching stair treads or tread nosing (the outer 3-4" of the step).  If the maker of your selected flooring doesn't make treads or tread nosing, check around, you can probably find a matching wood from another manufacturer.  

    That said, I usually recommend against wood flooring on the stairs.  It's a high-wear area, and it has a high slip/fall risk because the finish on pre-finished flooring is usually pretty slippery (socks and polished wood steps are a recipe for disaster).  When a wood stair is called for, I use a v-groove router bit to put several rows of shallow grooves on the face of the tread nose for traction.
