How do you install/set up joomla!?

I want to install the user system Joomla! on a new website I'm making but I'm not quite sure how to install it/make it work :S

Also, how do I make a joomla! layout and what program would I have to make it in?

Joomla is a database driven CMS system.  For more information visit joomla.org. It is the official site. Any questions about it will be or can be answered through their forums. They are great and already hold a great deal of useful information.

Download joomla

Set up a db on your host (you will need your db name, username, password

Install the files to your site's root folder

Type in your url with /installation at the end of it

Follow the directions on the screens.

You're done.

For templates, Joomla comes with three different ones.  If you are web savy you can adapt to make your own
