In the post-modern society, it is probably not appropriate to offer a social  issue unless it conforms with the group's thinking.   Original thinking would not be appreciated.   Better yet, I would make a high probablity of how the instructor feels about a topic and adopt those views as my own.  The for findings and conclusions that are in perfect symmetry with the teacher's views.

How brave of you. Yes, write it as you would write any other paper. You state your thesis (your opinion), then back it up with evidence to support it. Most issues that people raise for the first time, have generally been on the minds of others, but the others haven't had the courage to give it a voice.
