My chihuahua will eat NOTHING else besides chicken, and NO DOG FOOD.

He ONLY eats chicken baby food and whole baked chicken b*****s.

I am very worried about his health and lack of other vitamins. How do I train my 6 year old chihuahua to eat some other foods ? I tried giving him a multi-vitamin tablet but he won't eat those either.

  1. I put whole food nutrition supplements in my dog's diet of chicken and dog food. You can find all sorts of products like this. they are basically dehydrated fruits/veggies made for people who don't get enough in their diets. I have used Nanogreen, Juice Plus and veggie tablets through Vitamin World. Our vet is quite comfortable with this approach. Considering that you dog is a chihuahua  you won't be spending much to make this approach work.

  2. You've trained him to not eat dog food, like many people

Only feed him dog food. He will eat it sooner or later. He won't starve himself.

Veggies  and some fruits ( no dairy) ,  are good for dogs and can be used as a treat or mixed in his food as I do.

  3. If he eats the chicken baby food, you might be able to mix a couple spoonfuls of yogurt in with that.  Or crush the vitamins up on the baby food before feeding it to him.  If you are baking the chicken b*****s, you could add dried parsley to the coating before cooking them.  If he eats gravy on the chicken, make it out of vegetable broth or pureed veggies and plain yogurt.

  4. i have a small picky eater as well,,,,and the advice my vet gave was to put her food down and anything not eaten after 15 minutes should be taken away tll the next meal time,

this is hard i know but a healthy dog will not starve themselves,,

I also put her veggies in a blender,,like a veg smoothie and she eats this for me in her food

you could try to mix this in with her chicken,,,starting with small amounts at first,,,and increasing slowly,,

a hungry healthy dog  will soon eat when they are hungry enough,,

    Good luck
