  1. At circle time you could try asking them questions about their features like, "Who has red hair?, Who has green eyes? Who likes broccoli? Who is wearing orange?" Some is bound to say, "I do!" most every time.  Then ask, "Well, who is I?" when some one answers  something like ME, or I am, or a name, then explain, Yes when we talk about ourself, we say " I ". Like when we say, "I like ice cream!" or "My friends and I like recess." If you say, " I " , you mean your self.

It will be hard for some to grasp no matter what you say. But its worth a shot. Try cutting out paper doll like shapes and have then dress them with their favorite clothes. Encourage them to say sentences with " I " in them about themselves. "I like to wear green." "I am wearing stripes." I have jeans." Then they will use it often, and as we all know, practice makes perfect.

  2. You could associate the word I with the number one. You can tell the children that they are special and there is no one like them. They are unique. There is only one of them. I am special. I am unique.
