i would like to plan a birthday get together at a nice resturant for a friend. how do i invite and ask them to pay for their own dinners and drinks?

  1. When you ask the waitress for the bill, request seperate bills.


  2. i think that is really tacky why not just make a special dinner at home like spaghetti and bread or something you dont invite people to something then ask thme to pay that is really rude  

  3. make it clear that it's just a get together, and not an occasion during which you will treat them. I'd put a short but sweet note on the invite, like "pay per plate" or something

  4. You would say something (either in a written or verbal invite) along the lines of "It's Joe's birthday on Saturday, let's celebrate by taking him out to dinner at Fancy Restaurant."

    That way it is implied that everyone is taking the person out, and you are only organizing everyone.

  5. You are invited to a pay-for-yourself b'day dinner for x*x at XXXX restaurant.  

  6. If it is a birthday celebration it does not matter who pays for who. All that matter is that the birthday person does not pay for anything.  

  7. go with fewer people and pay the bill yourself..these folks are already coming and bringing a gift
