How do you invite friends on pokemon pearl wifi?

i go to the wifi room in the downstairs of a pokemon center, but when i press invite nothing happens and when i press it again it says suspend invitiation.help me please

Once you press the invite button, you have to stay put. You have to wait until your friend (that you registered) applies. Then something pops up when they contacted you "soandso wants to play with you" "soandso contacted you." Remember that in order to see your friends, they must have registered you and you must of registered them.
