I saw a video on youtube of a profesional player doing this trick and giving it the same "spin" as you would normally, how do you acheive that ?

  1. I also watched the videos Lea included in her answer. Both examples Joe Simpson demonstrated are useful. The pendular (or pendulum) stroke could be used when the cue ball is closer to the cushion. The "under-side" fluid and loose motion would be better for leaning farther in on the table. The height of the player would determine how far.

There is one he didn't cover. I use the "side" angle. It's slightly different than the "under" side, but like the pendulum you lean forward to give yourself move room to swing.

Practice all and get comfortable with one or both.

All you have to do is use it once and have it work and listen to the railbirds applauses. Good luck and good shooting.

  2. Check out this video of a BCA master instructor explaining how to do it. He shows how to do it  with your hand underneath the cue instead of on top (which is how I see most people do it), but it's a great tutorial, I think. Easier to follow than reading about it and then trying :) Also check out my jump shot poll (isn't anyone else going to answer???).
