How do you keep a basement with insulation cool? ANSWER ASAP>

okay so i am having a party and we are doing it in the basement. and my stupid mom put insulation down there so now we have to find a way to keep it nice and cool not hot ! a portable air conditioner wont work because they have hoses that need someway to lead out and we dont have that unless if we dont need. HELP.

  1. Your mom isn't stupid for putting insulation in the basement. Its not a bad idea if you use it a lot. Do you got a forced air furnace? Try putting your thermostat on fan only. This will circulate the air in your house and the cold air return will bring cold air down.


  2. Assuming you have heating/cooling service to your basement, you could temporarily block all the vents in the rest of the house and crank the AC, forcing more cold air into the basement.

  3. Get a portable de-humidifier. That will eliminate any moisture in the air and make it really cool!

  4. Get a humidifer, that ones that use water. Keeps the place really cold.  Also, heres a tip.

    Buy 1 big, semi-expensive one ($30-$50)

    or buy 2, non-expensive ones ($20 ea)

    Home depot would have them i believe, and also canadian tire, they have a good bunch of them for sure. Even superstore.
