  1. You should put the slices into lemon juice, and then freeze them.Stops them going brown.

  2. This works for peaches too!

Add something acidic to the water the apples are laying in.  The reason you put the apples in water with acid added is to keep them from turning brown.  Lemon juice (about a 1 teaspoon per pint of water) works. So does orange juice, lemon lime soda (like Sprite) or lemonade drink mix.  I found I don't always have fresh lemon juice around and was constantly looking for something I had on had that would work.  The lemonade drink mix works the best in my opinion.  It's not too sweet, not too sour and has the ascorbic acid in it that keeps the apples from turning brown.

  3. There are three ways to keep apple slices from turning brown before and during freezing:

    1. Steam-blanch them for 1 1/2 minutes and cool them in ice water before freezing.

    2. Dip slices in a solution of 1/2 teaspoon of ascorbic acid to 3 tablespoons of cold water ( or use a commercial antioxidant),

    3. Soak them in a solution of 2 tablespoons of salt and 1 gallon of water.
