you have to find out were they are coming from and seal up that area

it's not easy. you need to find where they are getting in(they can enter through a hole smaller than a quarter). by going into the attic during the day you can, hopefully, see light coming through any gaps. caulk them tight. it's the smell of their droppings that attract them back, so you need to sweep, scrape, clean, whatever it takes and then bleach to remove the smell. good luck!
