A lady brings her baby, who is old enough to sit up by himself, to our Adult Sunday School class, instead of leaving him in the church nursery like all the other mothers. She says that's too long to leave him. I was soooo distracted by him being there. I couldn't focus on the lesson. Then I got irritated that I couldn't focus on the lesson. By the end of the hour I was glaring at her. I know I'm just going insane. But I can't stand people talking about their babies anymore, and I can't get away from them. Every time I meet someone new, the first question out of their mouths is, "Do you have children?" Whatever happened to "what do you do?" or "what brings you here?" or something. It's like if you don't have children you have no place there. All the activities are "family-oriented" - "family" meaning "families who have children." The sermons, the discussions, everything is about parenting, being a good parent, raising up a new generation, blah, blah, blah, blah! I know I'm supposed to be there to worship God and focus on Him, but it's getting so I can't. And I don't know how to fix it. How do you ignore something that seems to be in your face all the time? How do you focus on something else?
