How do you keep from cutting your bushings?

I got some new skateboard trucks today and on my last trucks the metal started digging in and cutting the bushing. it even started cutting out chunks of it how can i stop this happening????

You tighten your trucks too much.  Try using a harder bushing instead.  You won't have to tighten them as much to get the same effect.
