How do you keep mold from forming under a bathmat?

We have one of those bathmats with little suction cups on the bottom so it sticks to the tub floor. But mold forms under it very quickly. Is there a way to keep this from happening?

  1. Picking it up and hanging it over the ledge of the tub until it dries. The mats can also be washed in the washer along with a load of towels.

  2. Hi Mike;

    You have to lift it up after each bath or shower and at least hose it down with the shower head. It's best to wash it with soapy water, rinse it and roll it up and stand it in the corner of the tub and let it drain. Leave it there to dry until the next time you need it.

  3. take it up once in awhile and clean under it. pouring bleach into the tub helps also when you aren't in it just rinse it really really well afterwards.

  4. Every time you shower, hang it on a towel rack to dry instead of leaving it on a wet shower floor. I also keep a spray bottle under  my bathroom sink which is half bleach and half water, if necessary, spray the underside of the mat to kill any mold.

  5. Bleach

    It is best to pull the mat up to clean it. I like to use the spray bottle after the shower.

  6. You need to take it up after every shower or bath. Let it dry and only use it during shower time. I know it's a pain but that's the only way you're going to keep the mold from forming.

    Also use a little bleach when you clean the tub and shower

  7. I hang mine on the edge of the tub to dry after each shower. Otherwise, the moisture gets trapped under the suction cups and grows mol. If you notice some mold, you can toss it into the washer with 1 cup of bleach on the cold cycle. Allow to air dry.
