How do you keep poisonous spiders out of your house?

We recently found a Recluse spider in our baby's room. We live in AZ, where there's Black Widows, Recluses, & Scorpions. Our neighbor's yard, which was severely overgrown due to foreclosure, was recently cleaned up. However, ever since we've been overrun with insects. I only care about the ones that can kill my baby. We have regular pest control, including thru tubes in our walls & also exterior spraying. However, the tube spraying only seems to drive the insects from the interior of the walls into the living space. But we don't want to spray the interior due to the baby. We keep our own yard clean. Pease don't say "move." Although we're looking to, there've been so many foreclosures that home values have bottomed, wherein we owe more than the house is worth. & please don't say that one Recluse isn't an issue. It only takes one to really ruin your day. AZ is nasty bug central. Any informative advice out there? I've covered all vents which screening material, sealed all cracks, etc.

  1. You cannot seal a house that tightly that insects are excluded - you need air to bearth dont you.  This is something anyone living in a sub-tropical or tropical area has to live with.  It is a fact though that 99.99% of insects will do their best to keep out of your way so you may be overstating the danger to yourself.

  2. Unfortunately, Where I live in MS we have the same problem. In fact one actually bit my daughter when she was a baby. You do NOT want this to happen to your baby. That being said what we did was to make sure we checked all the spots recluses like such as dark corners in closets, shoes ect. Then we sprayed the interior of our house with a strong pesticide. (We went to a hotel for the weekend.) We also sprayed our windows and window screens around the interior to prevent them coming in. Another option might be to ask the owner of the other property if they mind you spraying thier grass. It might help if that is where they are coming from. Good luck

  3. see if you can locate an osage orange tree, use the [apples] from it, place one in each room or 2 it will keep spiders out,

has an orange smell to them

  4. It is very unfortunate that u live in the suburb and in the desert.

Ur in  insect territory.   U can buy  a bug bomb and just take the baby bed out of the room and baby of course.

Bomb the room and shake out the bed to make sure no pest is there.  Let baby sleep in the living room or ur's for 1 nite.  This process will eliminate any insect in that room for a short while.  In my opinion...u can spray insect killer to each walls and it will not hurt baby, unless he/she goes and l**k it.  Which I think its 90% safe.
