Question:

How do you keep snow from sticking to the top of your snowboard?

It can get pretty heavy and icy, and gets the inside of our vehicle quite wet too (when we go home).

I hate when it starts to build up, especially in the bindings, on & around the stomp pad, and on the bottom of my boots (though I wouldn't want to make them too slippery for walking).

It also sticks to the rest of my board, especially during certain conditions.

I've considered dry-film lube (Molybdenum Disulfide)

Teflon of some sort.

Car Wax

Rain-X

Cooking Pan Anti-Stick spray (e.g. Pam)

A hi-tech car wax substitute (e.g. Nu Finish)

Armor All

Anyone know of a test that some magazine might have done or something like that?

  1. I don't know about the stick to it, but I put a plastic tarp in the car to put my equipment on for the drive back to Seattle.  Summit Central closes tomorrow, Alpental will be open for 2 more weekends. Hope you've enjoyed the sport.

  2. "The only thing that really gets rid of it is a few good old tail-slaps when you unstrap at the bottom."

    Quoted from person above.

hmm guess i was giving a wrong answer...who knew

  3. just knock off the snow before you put the stuff in the car.  It really isn't that hard.

  4. I have a question, what if I don't want my skis to fly away?  What if I don't want to look stupid going off jumps and flailing my arms out?  The answer, snowboarding.

There really is no solution.  I've heard of a few of the things you listed being tried to little success.  I have a black topsheet, so it absorbs the sunlight, melts the snow, then it somehow manages to refreeze sometimes.  The only thing that really gets rid of it is a few good old tail-slaps when you unstrap at the bottom.  Then use your hands to get rid of the rest.

If you're bored on the way up, just use the toe of your boot to scrape off whatever you can.

  5. use your hands its not that hard or you could while you waiting for the lift kick it off with your unstraped boot

  6. wipe it off with your hands then keep a towel with you to dry it off with. works for me really well

  7. There is no real solution, but one 100% free way of getting the snow off is when you are waiting for the lift, just stomp your attached foot. Thus, most of the snow will come off.

  8. this will solve all your problums...ski

  9. wax it

  10. My friend put car wax on the top of her board to cover up the damage some a**hole did when they ran over the back of it. It kept the snow off for the most part. It depends on the snow condition, sometimes you just have to put up with it and wipe it off when you're done boarding.

  11. i just wipe it of with my hands.....then let it sort of dry before i leave.

  12. it depends on the snow...

but my friend has a great solution!!!

he has one of those plastic things that get used to clean car windows... a sort of handle that goes in a v shape like a "Y"

he keeps one in his pocket and when he has a lot of snow on his board all he has to do is grab it and reach down 2 clean it...

    THE END ... xD
